Apr. 25th, 2008

I just had a game of LA style poker with Neilson(my fellow Singaporean friend), Justin(Taiwanese), Dernanto(Indo-chinese) and Mr Oinel(Hall supervisor). There's a first time for everything right? I wasn't quite keen on joining actually but since they called using the AV system, I obliged as a sport.

I started out making bets very flamboyantly, since my purpose was really to warm the bench and leave. I shoved the deck of coloured coins across the table every turn even though I do not know what was going on. Needless to say, I was terrible. I was the only one hanging on my last strand from going bankrupt. They were all commenting that they will never take me to the Casino with them ever.

Then with my final pathetic deck or coins, I bet all I have. And won, in fact.

And after that I was just rolling in the moolah. I was on a surge of platinum winning streak. And in the end, I was the big tasty winner. =D

And so I told them "My Mom has always taught me to be prudent. I just remembered her." And I left with Justin adopting my surname. Too bad for making the bet that I will not win.

Don't worry Mom and Dad, I'm not going to Vegas. I still don't know how to play poker actually.

I miss all of you. Goodnight!

My subjects: PE, English, Math and Plan(Something about planning for university.)

All this for one semester(3 months) before I rotate to something totally different. LIKE WHAT KIND OF LIFE IS THIS?! Everyone is Singapore must be so jealous. I can't wait for school to start.

Today I went to Shannon Falls with a group of 6 Taiwanese boys and a teacher. Basically, the school will arrange an outing everyday and people who want to go will sign up for it. I was forced into this one. Anyway, I made friends with them and they're really funny, always talking about super childish lame jokes. Shannon Falls is a waterfall on Mount Whistler, a venue for the Olympics in year 2010.  Today, I thank God I can speak Chinese and Hokkien. Most people can't understand what I'm saying. It's like I have to make extra effort to speak like some english muffin. I tell them: Singaporeans speak Singlish.
Many languages in one = Singlish.
Bad english = Singlish.
Malapropism = Singlish.
Very terrible = Singlish.
Super sophisticated = Singlish. :D

I'm so proud to be Singaporean. Singapore, I miss you!

I'm at Canada now.

It's cold here, about 9 degrees outside. But I'm feeling quite comfy. Vancouver is so different from Singapore. The land spreads out far and wide, all around are mountains, coniferous trees and lone mansions.

There's not many people in the school. It is surprisingly small, but it's cosy.

I'm really tired. It must be because of jet-lag. And honestly, I think SIA deserve to be complimented for taking really good care of me, this underage minor.

Oh yah, my room-mate is a korean!

And one more very important thing, Canadian food  is the worst EVER. Ok, It may not be quite right to presume that just from one dinner. There is basically 3 main dishes to accompany rice: Fatty sausages, tomato with grated cheese and some dumplings filled with some weird bean stuff. I took a bite out of each. And that was all I could take. Wendy, your Craisins saved my life! I think I may be reduced to bones when I return in December.

I'm missing people already.
